Copyright and complaints
Everything on Vizzo is uploaded and published by us. There is no user-uploaded content, so there is no intermediary here — we are responsible for every title in the catalogue. If something is shown here without the right to show it, that is our mistake, and ours to fix.
1The catalogue today
Most titles in the catalogue are openly licensed under CC BY, and a few are public-domain dedications under CC0. Each title's licence name, the credit it requires (CC0 requires none), and a link to the licence text are shown on that title's page.
2Reporting an unlicensed title
If you hold the rights in a work, or act for someone who does, and you believe we are showing it without the right to — write to us and include four things:
The title, or the exact link on our site.
The work you say is infringed, and how you are connected to the rights in it.
An explicit statement that you believe the display is unauthorised.
A way to reach you.
3What we do
We check the licence we are relying on. If we have no right to show the title, we take it down. If we do have the right, we reply and explain exactly what we are relying on.
We are not setting a deadline here that we cannot keep — this service is run by one person. What we will say is this: a complaint of this kind is handled before anything else.
4Fixing a credit
CC BY requires attribution, and the credit is an obligation of ours rather than a courtesy — displaying a work without the required credit is not “mostly compliant”, it is unlicensed use.
If the credit we show for your work is wrong, missing, or worded differently from what you asked for, write to us and we will correct it. A credit correction needs no infringement claim and is not handled as a complaint.
5Bad-faith notices
A notice sent to remove content the sender has no rights in may expose the sender to liability. We keep a record of notices and of what was done about them.
6Our own material
The synopses, the translations, the design and the code of the site are ours.
A translation we made of an openly licensed work is a derivative work, and is itself subject to the source work's licence and its attribution requirement.
