Terms of Use

These are the terms on which we run Vizzo and on which you watch it. They are short, and they cover only what actually exists. If anything here does not describe the service as it is, write to us and we will fix it.

1Who runs the service

Vizzo is operated from Israel by an individual, as a sole trader, and not by a registered company. We have no company number to show and we do not display one. If and when a company is registered to run the service, we will update these details here and give notice. For anything at all: info@vizzo.tv

2What the service is

Vizzo is a video-on-demand service. Today all viewing is free and funded by advertising. We charge nothing, there is no subscription, and no payment details exist anywhere in the system. If a paid tier is ever added, it will be presented separately, with its own terms and the cancellation arrangements the law requires.

3Accounts

You can watch without an account. An account keeps your watchlist and your resume points, and enables profiles.

The account holder must be 18 or over. We ask for a date of birth at signup and we check it, because the account holder is the person who sets up the kids profiles and holds their PINs — an account opened by a minor would place a child on the unrestricted side of the very mechanism built to protect them.

The details you give should be accurate, and your password is your responsibility. If you think someone else has got into your account, reset the password; a reset ends every other session.

You can delete your account at any time from the account page, without contacting us. What goes and what stays is set out on the deletion screen itself and in the privacy policy.

4Profiles and age ratings

A kids profile and an age limit are tools in the account holder's hands, not an official classification.

The rating shown on a title is set by us: where a supplier provides a classification we normalise it onto a single numeric scale, and where none is provided we assign one ourselves based on the title's content.

A title whose rating label we do not recognise is treated as unclassified and is hidden from any profile with an age limit set. That is deliberately the strict reading: a label we do not recognise is far likelier to be an adult certificate than a children's one.

Switching to a profile that has a PIN requires it. A kids profile carries no PIN — entering one is meant to be free — so a household that wants the door shut sets a PIN on the grown-up profile. It is not a substitute for supervision.

5The content, and its licences

The catalogue today consists of openly licensed works — most under CC BY, a few public-domain under CC0. Each title page shows the licence name, the credit it requires, and a link to its text.

We are saying this explicitly, because the usual clause says the opposite: your rights in these works come from the CC licence, not from us, and they are broader than what the site technically allows. We cannot narrow them and we are not trying to. Whatever the licence permits you to do with a work, you may do — even where the site has no button for it.

What is ours: the site, the design, the code, the synopses written for this catalogue, and the translations we produced. A translation of a CC BY work is a derivative work, and is itself subject to the source licence and its attribution requirement.

If titles under ordinary commercial licences are added later, they will be marked as such and this section will not apply to them.

6What you may not do with the service

These terms are about the service, not about the works.

Do not circumvent the entitlement gates, the territory check, or the licence limits on titles that are not openly licensed.

Do not run automation that loads our servers, and do not scrape the catalogue in bulk.

Do not fabricate ad impressions or generate artificial views. Those impressions and views become money in reports we sign — faking them defrauds an advertiser or a rights holder, not us.

Do not use the service to attack it or the people using it.

An ad blocker is not a breach of these terms. It costs us the revenue the service lives on, and we would rather say so than block you.

7Advertising

Free viewing is funded by advertising served through Google. The adverts themselves are not ours and we do not choose them one by one.

In territories where the law requires it, we ask you before Google's advertising code loads, and without agreement it is not loaded at all. Everywhere, always, you can refuse personalised advertising and change that choice on the privacy policy page. Refusing costs you nothing: the films work exactly as normal.

8Availability

The service is provided as it is, in the state it is in. We do not undertake continuous availability, response times, support hours, or that any particular title will stay in the catalogue. A title can come down when a licence ends or a supplier withdraws it — including one sitting in your watchlist.

This is a small service at the beginning of its life, and we would rather say so up front than promise a service level with no organisation behind it.

9Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, arising from use of the service or from its interruption.

Because we charge nothing, there is no sum paid that could be returned.

Nothing here excludes liability the law does not permit to be excluded — including personal injury, wilful misconduct and gross negligence — and nothing here reduces rights the law gives you that cannot be contracted out of.

10Ending

You can stop at any time, and account deletion is done from the account page.

We may suspend or close an account being used to breach the sections above — above all faked impressions or attacks on the service. If we do, we will write to the account's email address and explain, unless the law prevents us.

11Copyright and complaints

Everything on Vizzo is uploaded and published by us. There is no user-uploaded content, so there is no intermediary here — we are responsible for every title in the catalogue. If something is shown here without the right to show it, that is our mistake, and ours to fix.

If you hold the rights in a work, or act for someone who does, and you believe we are showing it without the right to — write to info@vizzo.tv and include: the title or the exact link on our site; the work you say is infringed and how you are connected to the rights in it; an explicit statement that you believe the display is unauthorised; and a way to reach you.

We check the licence we are relying on. If we have no right to show the title, we take it down. If we do have the right, we reply and explain exactly what we are relying on. We are not setting a deadline here that we cannot keep — this service is run by one person. What we will say: a complaint of this kind is handled before anything else.

CC BY requires attribution, and the credit is an obligation of ours rather than a courtesy — displaying a work without the required credit is not “mostly compliant”, it is unlicensed use. If the credit we show for your work is wrong, missing, or worded differently from what you asked for, write to us and we will correct it. A credit correction needs no infringement claim and is not handled as a complaint.

12Changes

We will update these terms as the service changes. A material change — starting to charge, or a change in what we collect — will be shown before it takes effect, and account holders will also be emailed. The last-updated date is at the foot of this page.

If and when a company is established to run the service, accounts and these terms will transfer to it, and we will give notice beforehand.

13Law and jurisdiction

Israeli law applies to these terms, and the competent courts in Israel have jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer resident in a country whose law gives you protections that cannot be contracted out of, those protections continue to apply to you and this section does not reduce them.
